You will hear the sounds of trains going by, construction forklifts beeping, etc. The factory works through the night. Some nights are more noisy than others, and unfortunately this is out of our control. Sunday nights tend to be the quietest as often the factory is off work! Our family lives nearby and is not usually bothered by it, but we realize it's not for everyone, particularly if you're a light sleeper. The caboose has sound-proofing and double layers of insulation around the bedroom area, and we provide a white noise machine and portable fan for your added comfort. *You must be 25 years or older to reserve James Station. ADDITIONAL GUESTS: If you have more than 3 in your group wanting to stay, we also offer a 1 bedroom apartment AND a separate 5 bedroom home nearby that you may rent in coordination with your stay. Look up our listings (under Amy's profile) "River View Downtown Historic Apartment" or the "Candy Apple." HOSTED BY: James Station is a part of the Stay Different collection by All Belong Co, a local hosting team dedicated to providing 5 star stays. We will take good care of you! SMALL GATHERINGS: Gatherings and small events are considered on a case by case basis and include an event fee. Please message our team & provide as many details as possible. SO MUCH TO DO NEARBY! Downtown restaurants, shopping, breweries: 3-5 min Walking Nature Trails (paved railroad tracks!): at the end of the street! JAMES STATION KIDS: We offer a James Station kids package ($25) that comes with a kids' conductor hat, bandana, branded train whistle, & sticker book to make their stay even more enjoyable. Other Details to Note

Save our listing: click the heart in the top right corner! POTENTIAL FOR NOISE: Situated on the river is a historic iron pipe factory and a railroad. You'll get to see some trains go by and watch the workings of a 24-hour factory (a rare glimpse at American manufacturing!). These industries are not noise free! Our family lives in the neighborhood and is not bothered by it, but we realize it may not be for everyone and some nights are louder than others. We've added noise reducing insulation to the caboose and also provide a white noise sound machine as well as a fan in the bedroom area should guests feel they need it. POTENTIAL OF TOURISTS: Our caboose is listed as one of Virginia's official "LOVE"works tourism signs, so on occasion someone might drive up and want to take a picture of the caboose from the street. Only our registered guests are allowed on the deck itself, so please let us know if there are any issues.

Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

James Station sits atop Daniel's Hill: a beautiful, historic neighborhood within walking distance of downtown Lynchburg's shops, restaurants, and events. At the end of the street is an entrance to the Blackwater Creek Trail system, which provides guests miles of paved (and unpaved) walking, hiking, & bike trails. In our neighborhood, you'll find some brick-paved roads flanked with historic lamp posts, a bustling community center with a fenced-in park and playground, sidewalks in both directions, and architecturally impressive homes built from the 1820's to the early 1900's. The people in our neighborhood are just as beautiful and diverse as the houses themselves, ranging from residents who have lived in the neighborhood for 50+ years and others who are new to Lynchburg. On the block alone, there are families with young children, single professionals, and elderly folks. It is a "front porch" neighborhood where everyone knows everyone and they watch out for one another. We love this neighborhood and are proud to call it our family's home.

The view outside was amazing, having the river and the pipeworks in front of the caboose was really cool to watch. The deck and yard made it even better. Easily the one of the best spots to stay at.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend trip for his birthday and all we had to say was WOW! We both appreciated staying in an airbnb that not only had a view but was so neat in nature and idea. We also LOVED the netted swing chairs inside, made me feel like a kid again haha. Overall, the views in the morning with the defined of the grass will sink you deeper and deeper, wanting to never leave. Definitely going to stay here again! Amy was amazing.

Very cool place very comfy bed and pillows very hot shower. Grateful for the well stocked coffee station. So many cute spots to hang out like the bench swing, fire pit etc. The door in the bathroom that exits to the “balcony” was soooo cool! Oh and thanks for the snack at arrival we were starving! The view!!!! We enjoyed the morning working on our computers with that view of the river! The factory!!!! oh my god what a cool thing to see absolutely amazing experience my 8yr old son was so intrigued. We could watch them work for hours. We also had a competition of who spotted more trains going by. Ohhhhh and I spotted a deer family of 4 on the left side of the fire pit behind the big dumpster bin, they were so close to us!!

We had a fantastic stay at James Station! The view was unbeatable and the train was so fun for pictures! We had a really wonderful disconnect from tech sitting outside each night on the swinging bench and just talking for hours under the stars - all from still within the city! There were so many places to thrift, eat, and see nearby - we even squished in a daytrip to go horseback riding! Would highly recommend and would definitly stay again!
